Cold irony washed me in desolation
As I watched my lover’s eyes
Wilt into feral disillusion of the sinister type
Midnight silver transforming to blood red.
This wasn’t the same person
I had loved the rhythm of
And felt the spirit in
Just hours before.
This was a stranger,
Wearing a familiar mask,
Envious of my lover’s life,
Stealing it away with cold demise.
Showers of hatred spilled from his core,
As his body rippled into a wild frenzy
Of bleak evil I had never seen before,
What was the reason,
Was I not worth his time anymore?
I watched my lover slip into tranquil hate,
As his teeth flashed a hateful taunt
Of past lies and illusions
I had been frail enough to fall for.
