I try to hide the tears as I pass by.
Another fight
I want them to see my sorrow and pain
But I don’t want it to be so obvious how weak I am
Another lonely night
Just my tears and I.

I walk with hesitation,
A shaky trail I make
Adrenaline still in the air,
I fear noise, of yelling in my ears
So I try to keep my composure
I try to douse my tears with care
Even while they try to push through,
They always do.

I try to stop crying so I write
I never mention the fight,
I’m not that kind of person,
Downing someone because of their anger
We’ve all been there, so I try to write with reason
And talk about my tears instead.

Writing seems to calm me down
Until I am disrupted and the crying
Behind my eyes pounds its way out
When I hear the voices in the other room,
They are doused, but I know they speak of me;
The mistake with tears claiming her face.

And then when I run out of light or led,
I can’t suppress my thoughts to my notebook
And I cry out to the moonlit night
Agony and pain seething from my veins
And I know tomorrow is another day
But for tonight my tears stain my face
And I sleep with their pattern claiming my pride.
